Transitioning from summer to fall can be hard. The mornings are chilly and crisp but the afternoons can still be sweltering. If you’re ready to update your wardrobe for the transition of seasons but aren’t sure what to wear, I’ve got you covered. In this blog post, I’m sharing 6 summer to fall outfits that are chic, practical and incorporate some of this year’s trends. These looks will help you easily transition from summer to fall. Navigate the in-between season with these go-to looks.
1. Button Down Shirts
Swap out your summer uniform of a tee shirt jeans and sandals for a lightweight button down shirt and ballet flats for colder days. Pair this with some accessories and you’re good to go. This look is the perfect summer-to-fall transitional outfit that you could easily pair with a trench coat or throw a lightweight cardigan over the shoulders for a preppier look as well. I love ballet flats, especially these maroon options from Margeaux but if you’re not sold on flats swap them out for a chucky pair of loafers for fall.

2. Leather
Start incorporating some leather accents into your wardrobe for fall. I’ve seen a lot of people mixing feminine pieces like silk dresses with more masculine leather pieces and this is perfect for a summer to fall transitional look. Try a white tank, silk midi skirt and leather coat for a sophisticated but edgy look. This outfit will have you looking effortlessly cool and elegant. You can style this with a pair of heels or with loafers to keep your feet a little warmer.

3. Sweater Dress
Get the breeziness of a dress but the warmness of a knit. Summer-to-fall is the perfect time to wear a knit dress. Pair with mesh ballet flats for an ultra cool look.

4. Trench Coat
Fall is trench coats season for me. Trench coats are perfect for the chillier morning weather and you can easily layer this over a dress or a mini skirt for the warmer afternoons. When the weather gets colder a trench coat is still a great go-to and something you can easily layer with trousers or even dress up your more casual athleisure outfits.
The look I’m loving the most for summer-to-fall is a white tee, mini skirt and a trench coat layered over top. This look is simple but elegant. You can style this with a pair of heels which is my favorite or with loafers to keep your feet a little warmer.

5. Blazer
Transition your favorite dress from summer to fall by pairing it with a blazer. Pair a chic silk dress with ballet heels for work or heels for a night out. This look is elegant and minimal and won’t go out of style anytime soon. This look is understated but timeless look that you’ll be able to wear for many years to come.

6. Cardigan
Sweater Weather! Finally time to break out those cozy but lightweight sweaters for fall. There are a million ways to wear lightweight sweaters that will work for you summer-to-fall transition but a classic look that never goes out of style is a cardigan with some blue jeans and leather ballet flats for a timeless and classic look. You could also add a fun western flare and swap the ballet flats for cowboy boots. Red is really in this season so I liked the red ones linked below.
