I don’t know about you but I’m still loving the Coastal grandmother trend. Does being elegant but comfortable dressed like you live somewhere near the ocean ever go out of style?
The Coastal Grandmother Look gained popularity as a fashion trend that combines luxury, comfort, and a touch of seaside charm. With a focus on classic staples and a neutral color palette, this style is easygoing and effortless sophistication. The looks can easily fit into your capsule wardrobe with nice basics and neutral colors that can be interchanged with each other effortlessly.
The coastal grandmother vibe embodies all the slow and magical moments of life from attending book clubs, growing your own vegetables, drinking crisp white wine with friends on a patio, bonfires on the beach, you get the idea!

Key elements of this trend
- Luxurious Fabrics and Simple Silhouettes: The Coastal Grandmother Look revolves around the concept of understated luxury. Opt for natural fabrics like linen, cotton, and silk to create a breezy and comfortable ensemble.
- Earthy Tones and Nautical Stripes: When it comes to color palettes, earthy tones dominate. Think blues, greens, creams, whites, beiges or light pinks.
- Versatile Accessories: Consider adding a straw or bucket hat to protect yourself from the sun while effortlessly channeling a coastal vibe. A straw, basket, or canvas tote is not only practical but also adds a nice contrast to your ensemble. Pair your outfits with understated sneakers, leather slides and flip flops, or sandals to strike the perfect balance between comfort and style.
- Cozy Knitwear and Layering: Embrace cozy knitwear on cool summer nights to add warmth and texture to your coastal-inspired outfits. Opt for lightweight cashmere sweaters or cardigans in neutral tones that compliment the rest of your wardrobe. Layering is key to achieving a sophisticated and polished look. Pair a long-sleeve cotton shirt with a sweater or drape a chambray or denim jacket over your shoulders.
Coastal Grandmother Essential Wardrobe Pieces
Linen pants
Crisp Linen is quientessial for the coastal grandmother look. The fabric is light and breathable for the summer and very laid back but still luxe. From running errands, brunch, or dressed up you can wear these pants all summer long for a variety of occasions. My favorite way to wear my white linen pants is with a baby doll top paired with linen pants, leather sandals and a slick back bun for simple but cool look.
Button down top
A crisp white button down is a no-brainer for this trend but pastel hues and stripes are great too. This is a piece you can wear all summer long over dresses, tank tops or tied at the bottom.
Bucket hat
If you’re spending a lot of time on the coast, or at least want to look like you are, you’re going to need a hat. I’m loving raffia bucket hats right now. This hat is perfect addition for your coastal grandmother wardrobe and can be worn gardening, lounging by the pool, or brunch with friends. I also love that this because a bucket hat makes me feel like Diane Keaton in my favorite movie, Something’s Gotta Give.

The coastal grandmother look wouldn’t be complete without a soft cashmere to throw on with your linen pants or breezy maxi dress.

Comfortable, flowy and breathable. What not to love about this in the summer. Long flowy dresses make the prefect addition to your coastal
